For Ronil Goger, Founder & Managing Partner at Blaze Legal, intellectual property is no longer confined to trademark registrations, copyright filings or courtroom disputes. It sits at the intersection of law, business, creativity, technology and psychology. His journey into IP began unexpectedly—with a childhood curiosity about why Sony was producing a Spider-Man film when Spider-Man was a Marvel character. That early question about movie rights became an introduction to intellectual property that would eventually shape his professional path.

Ronil’s professional foundation was built through varied internships and his early experience at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, where he developed the fundamentals of being a lawyer—attention to detail, research, drafting, client communication and accountability. Over time, his interest in IP became more defined, eventually leading him to establish Blaze Legal. What began with trademark work has grown into a practice covering litigation, copyright, patents, technology, media and entertainment, and cross-border IP work. For Ronil, the defining moment was not one particular case or client, but the decision to stop thinking only like a lawyer and start thinking about building a legacy.

His approach to modern IP reflects how dramatically the business environment has changed. Brand protection today extends beyond registration to domains, social media, digital advertising, copyright, competitor activity and online enforcement. With AI entering the picture, the questions have become even more complex—covering training data, authorship, ownership, licensing, infringement and accountability. Ronil believes lawyers working in technology-driven areas must be comfortable being uncomfortable, combining strong legal fundamentals, technological curiosity and commercial understanding.

But behind the IP lawyer is an entrepreneur, mentor, traveller, foodie and lifelong learner. Ronil believes good legal advice begins by understanding what the client is actually trying to achieve rather than applying a standard checklist. His advice to young lawyers is equally practical: develop curiosity, take ownership, learn to write clearly and remember that preparation can matter as much as brilliance. Guided by his father’s advice to “stay humble, stay hungry,” Ronil represents a modern legal professional who sees innovation not simply as something to advise on, but as something to understand, embrace and help shape.
