Prof. (Dr.) Deevanshu Shrivastava represents the kind of academic leader who doesn’t just teach law—he builds ecosystems that shape future legal professionals. As Founding Dean at GL Bajaj Institute of Law, he brings over 12 years of experience across legal education, institutional leadership, public policy, and intellectual property law. What makes his journey stand out is his deep-rooted passion for teaching combined with a visionary approach to curriculum development and student transformation.

In this episode of The Koffee Conversation Show, Prof. Shrivastava shares a powerful and reflective perspective on legal education, IPR, leadership, AI in law, and the evolving role of academicians in shaping the legal ecosystem. His insights are grounded in both experience and philosophy—highlighting that teaching is not just about delivering knowledge, but about enabling students to think, choose, and grow. His journey reflects a lifelong commitment to learning, where he continues to see himself not as an expert, but as a student of law.

His career journey began in a family deeply rooted in law, but his decision to pursue academia was unconventional. While the natural path was litigation, he chose to specialize in Intellectual Property Rights—a domain unfamiliar to his family at the time. Clearing the UGC-NET early in his career became a defining turning point, setting him on a path toward teaching, research, and institutional building. Over the years, he has contributed to multiple universities, helped establish new law schools, and even played a role in building a public policy school from scratch.

A defining aspect of his journey is his philosophy of education. Whether it is integrating AI into curriculum, promoting experiential learning through moot courts and internships, or mentoring students into becoming judges and professionals, his focus has always been on practical, adaptable, and future-ready legal education. His journey reflects a powerful belief: education is not static—it must evolve with society, technology, and the needs of the profession.
