With 18 years of experience in patents across robotics, AI, automotive, biomedical devices, telecommunication, and electronics, Deepak leads the Patents Engineering Division at RK Dewan & Co., shaping some of India’s most complex IP portfolios.

But behind the technical brilliance lies a deeply personal journey — from a computer science engineer who stumbled into IPR, to one of the most respected patent professionals in the country. His story is one of curiosity, evolution, humility, and a relentless commitment to understanding both technology and the human spirit behind innovation.

Deepak’s entry into the world of patents wasn’t planned. After graduating in computer science and briefly working in software engineering, fate took over. A chance interview at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan in 2007 introduced him to patents — a field he knew nothing about at the time. But the moment he realized how beautifully technical reasoning merged with legal interpretation, his career path transformed permanently.

From becoming a registered patent agent to completing law from Delhi University, Deepak built a powerful skillset in drafting, prosecution, FTO, invalidation analysis, litigation support, and global patent strategy. His journey spans Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, Khurana & Khurana, LexOrbis, and LS Davar, before taking on a leadership role at RK Dewan. Each phase sharpened his speed, clarity, client trust, and mentorship philosophy — shaping him into the multi-domain patent leader he is today.
