Bhavya Bhatt, Founder of Clause Play, is redefining how professionals and firms communicate their expertise in an increasingly competitive, digital-first world. With a background in law and experience spanning content writing, professional services marketing, business development, branding, and strategy, she works at the intersection of legal knowledge and creative communication. In this Navratri special episode of The Koffee Conversation Show – The Emerging Lawyer, Bhavya shares why excellent professional work deserves to be seen, understood, and remembered. Her journey challenges the traditional belief that expertise alone is enough to build a reputation. In her view, professionals must also learn to articulate their stories, communicate their distinctive strengths, and build a recognisable identity that extends beyond their immediate networks.
Bhavya’s interest in law began at the age of 14, when she encountered a book on the Law of Torts at a friend’s home. That moment sparked a curiosity that eventually led her to study humanities and pursue a law degree. However, she soon discovered that becoming a lawyer did not mean she had to follow a conventional career path. Her interests expanded into content, design, branding, and professional services strategy. Rather than treating these interests as unrelated pursuits, she found a way to bring them together. Her professional experiences helped her recognise a recurring challenge: many law firms and professionals were delivering excellent work but remained relatively unknown beyond their existing circles. This insight became central to her entrepreneurial journey and ultimately inspired the creation of Clause Play, a brand built around the idea that professional services can be distinctive, engaging, and memorable.

One of Bhavya’s key contributions has been her work on India’s first law firm digital footprint report, which examined how firms used platforms such as LinkedIn and how their content performed. The experience revealed that many firms treated social media primarily as a noticeboard, often repeating the same formats and messaging used by their peers. Bhavya believes that effective visibility begins with understanding a firm’s story, goals, strengths, and available resources. The right approach may involve thought-leadership articles, podcasts, video explainers, downloadable reports, carousels, or media engagement. At the same time, professional visibility must respect ethical and regulatory boundaries. For lawyers, that means focusing on legal education, judgment analysis, and the dissemination of information rather than directly soliciting clients. She also believes that a distinctive brand is built through consistency: a recognisable voice, visual identity, signature content formats, and a clear point of view. When these elements work together, visibility becomes more than a marketing exercise; it becomes a way to establish credibility and earn trust.
Bhavya’s entrepreneurial experience has also taught her patience, resilience, and the importance of trusting her own instincts. She speaks candidly about the anxiety of waiting for client payments and the discipline required to remain calm when business feels uncertain. Her advice to young professionals is to begin building their identity early rather than waiting for a senior designation or a career milestone. She encourages students and professionals to share their perspectives, write about their experiences, and nurture genuine relationships through networking. In her view, AI can be a powerful creative assistant for generating ideas, themes, and first drafts, but it cannot replace the human story, emotion, and judgement that make communication distinctive. Beyond work, Bhavya enjoys painting, singing, playing the ukulele, cooking, baking, and reading biographies. Her Navratri message is one of courage and self-belief: a degree does not have to define the boundaries of a career, and other people’s doubts should not determine what someone is capable of achieving. Sometimes, the most meaningful professional identity is built when you dare to write your own story.
