Afaq Sherwani stands as the quiet force behind complex motor insurance litigation—where empathy meets evidence and justice meets institutional responsibility. As Chief Legal Manager at ICICI Lombard General Insurance, his decade-plus journey reflects discipline, integrity, and a deeply human approach to claims that often carry life-altering consequences. For Afaq, litigation is not about winning—it is about restoring fairness.

In this episode of The Koffee Conversation, Afaq takes us behind the case files—decoding MACT processes, third-party insurance realities, fraud detection, and the emotional weight of compensation decisions. His lens is balanced: protect the company, uphold the law, and ensure victims receive what is fair—not inflated, not denied—just fair. It’s legal leadership grounded in accountability.

Raised and educated in Aligarh, Afaq completed his five-year integrated law degree from Aligarh Muslim University before moving to Delhi in 2003. Early litigation practice shaped his procedural sharpness, and in 2013 he joined ICICI Lombard—where he has since grown alongside the organization, navigating the evolving terrain of motor accident claims, digital reporting systems, and regulatory reforms.

Over the years, his work has expanded beyond courtroom arguments into stakeholder negotiation, fraud prevention, AI-led claim evaluation, and team leadership. Whether handling high-stakes Supreme Court matters or negotiating sensitive settlements, his philosophy remains constant: compensation must be genuine, integrity must be uncompromised, and empathy must guide every legal decision.
