Kinnari Gala, Founder of All About Packaging and Thin I Branding Solutions, is one of India’s most distinctive voices in FMCG packaging and brand design. With over 12 years of experience crafting visual identities for global brands, she combines artistic flair with strategic thinking to create designs that don’t just sell — they speak.

A visiting faculty at Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), she believes packaging is not just about wrapping a product but about shaping emotion, storytelling, and perception. Kinnari’s design philosophy is rooted in psychology, empathy, and simplicity — transforming how consumers see, touch, and remember brands.

Her entrepreneurial journey from childhood fascination with cereal boxes to running two successful agencies proves that creativity, when guided by courage and clarity, can become a business force of its own.

Kinnari’s creative spark was ignited early — at a breakfast table. A fourth-grade fascination with a box of Froot Loops turned into a lifelong love affair with colors, typography, and packaging that tells a story. That single box inspired the founder in her long before she knew the word entrepreneurship.

Her foundation was built at Rachna Sansad College, where she learned to sketch headlines by hand and design without relying on software — an experience that grounded her in the essence of visual storytelling. After working across leading agencies, she launched Thin I Branding Solutions in 2012 — “Thin” symbolizing sleek innovation, and “I” standing for ideas, innovation, and integration. A few years later, All About Packaging was born, turning her niche expertise into a specialized design powerhouse serving FMCG, wellness, and lifestyle brands globally. Through her dual roles as designer and strategist, Kinnari has led campaigns that blend creativity, commerce, and conscience, making packaging a sensory experience. Her journey is not just about building brands — it’s about building belief: in design, in women-led leadership, and in the subtle power of visual storytelling.

Key Highlights of Koffee Conversation with Kinnari Gala:

  • Kinnari shared how her childhood love for cereal boxes — especially Froot Loops — shaped her destiny: “That one box I fell in love with ended up becoming my career.”
  • She revealed the story behind her agency’s name, All About Packaging, which represents her holistic approach — from strategy and research to printing and design.
  • On balancing creativity with business, she said, “Design is what consumers see, but strategy is what makes them buy.”
  • Discussing why packaging is the most underrated marketing tool, Kinnari emphasized: “The product inside may be brilliant, but if the pack doesn’t connect emotionally, even a great product can fail.”
  • She highlighted sustainability in design, explaining how clients are increasingly embracing eco-conscious materials and responsible printing — “Sustainable packaging is no longer a trend; it’s a trust signal.”
  • One of her proudest projects involved convincing a client to invest ₹1 more in premium paper, leading to a price hike of ₹5 and higher sales — “Sometimes, you have to stand up for what’s right, even in design.”
  • On packaging trends, she noted that Indian brands need to leverage interactivity — from QR code storytelling to post-purchase engagement — to keep customers emotionally connected.
  • She admired global innovations like Coca-Cola’s interactive Christmas labels, calling personalization the future of packaging in the digital age.
  • Kinnari spoke about her role as a visiting professor at UID, where she blends Gen Z’s creative energy with traditional strategy: “They love minimalism, but I remind them — India loves color and storytelling.”
  • On leadership, she reflected: “I’ve learned the most from real people — my mentors, my clients, and my team.”
  • Her advice to women founders was powerful: “Learn everything about money. Creativity builds your craft, but financial literacy builds your business.”
  • Personally, she opened up about her formative years — her love for art over academics, her inspiration from her late father, and her bond with her all-women team.
  • She shared how her studio wall features painted wings, symbolizing freedom of expression — a metaphor for her vision of Shree Shakti.
  • Her favorite design reads include The Brand Gap by Marty Neumeier, which she calls “a bible for every creative entrepreneur.”
  • Her mantra for life? “Always do what’s right, not what’s easy.”
